The Orange.bat project continues to progress in Castellón, reaching a new milestone with the development of its hydrogen distribution infrastructure across the ceramic cluster.
As part of this phase, a dedicated hydrogen network is being developed to connect the production site in Onda with key industrial areas in Onda, Vila-real and Betxí. The permits requested by Redexis cover the construction of approximately 29 kilometres of hydrogen pipelines.
This infrastructure represents a significant step in enabling the direct supply of renewable hydrogen to industrial off-takers in the ceramic sector — one of the most energy-intensive industries in the Valencian Region. By ensuring proximity between production and consumption, the project addresses one of the key challenges in hydrogen deployment: the integration of supply and demand within a defined industrial ecosystem.
The Orange.bat project is designed as an integrated solution, combining renewable hydrogen production with dedicated transport infrastructure and direct industrial use. This approach supports the decarbonisation of hard-to-abate sectors while strengthening the resilience and competitiveness of industrial clusters.
Beyond its local impact, Orange.Bat contributes to the broader development of a hydrogen ecosystem in Spain, aligned with national and European decarbonisation objectives.
